The Museum is located between Wareham and Corfe Castle on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. We are next to Norden Station and car park on the Swanage Railway. Our postcode is BH20 5DW
The museum is now closed for the winter and will reopen on Friday 23rd March 2018
The Museum and underground mine will be open on the following days during 2018 from 11am to 5pm (last entry 4:30pm):
- March – Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th and Saturday 31st March
- April – Saturday and Sundays only
- May to September – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays
- October – Saturday and Sundays only
Additionally to the above we will also be open on the following Bank Holidays during 2018:
Good Friday – 30th March
Easter Monday – 2nd April
Early May Bank Holiday – 7th May
Spring Bank Holiday – 28th May
Summer Bank Holiday – 27th August
Opening hours 11am-5pm (last entry 4.30pm).
The museum will close again for the winter on Sunday 28th October 2018.
When we are open, the Swanage Railway will be operating, so why not make a day of it and enjoy a trip on a fabulous steam hauled train?
Entry is Free, but we rely on your donations, please give at least £1 per person to enable us to keep our museum open. Please Gift Aid your donation if you can.
Access to the site is limited in some areas for wheelchair users, but please contact us for advice as we are making improvements all the time.
The Museum is adjacent to accessible toilets in the Norden car park building and the Buffet on the station platform provides refreshments, sandwiches, cakes and snacks.
Parking is available at Norden Station. Cars cost £3.20 for a whole day.
